She is a licensed registered nurse with a BA in psychology; certified music therapist; credential mind body medicine/Ayurveda and meditation instructor with Deepak Chopra, MD and David Simon, MD, since 1995. Concurrently, she designed a music therapy/music in medicine program for children and adults at Rusk Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine, NYU Medical Center. In 1989, she was invited to develop and conduct similar curriculums for St. John School of the Arts, USVI. In 1996, she founded the Mind Body Health Institute in New Jersey, providing seminars and workshops in mind body medicine/Ayurveda, meditation and sound healing. In 2000, in collaboration with Caneel Bay Resort, USVI, she established The Self Centre at Caneel. Jan continues to nurture children through the arts at St. John School of the Arts where she presently holds the Executive Director position.

As a seminar presenter, educator and professional speaker, she has served various populations in hospital/medical settings; corporations; universities; public and private schools; meditation and wellness centers; and the private sector. Mind-body-spirit interrelatedness and quality of life remain the themes of Jan’s work.
